Research fields and expertise: artificial neural networks, text representation, natural language processing
Karlo Babić obtained his BSc degree in informatics in 2016 from the University of Rijeka, Department of Informatics, and his MSc degree in informatics from the University of Rijeka, Department of Informatics in 2018. In 2018 he began his PhD while working as an assistant at the University of Rijeka, Department of Informatics. The topic of his PhD is related to neural networks for text representation. He defended his qualifying exam “Text Representation Models Based on Neural Networks” (supervisor Ana Meštrović). His research interests include neural networks, natural language processing, and simulations. Karlo has trained as a part of the lifelong learning and professional specialisation in Early Career Training Event COSTNET at the Ludwig-Maximilians-University in Munich.
His expertise in the knowledge of working with artificial neural networks and research of neural networks for text representation is useful in the project. The technological competencies that can be of use for this project are Python (including the library TensorFlow/Keras), C++, JavaScript, LaTeX, and Linux.
