Research fields and expertise: deep neural networks, natural language processing

Marko Pranjić obtained his MSc degree at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computing, University of Zagreb and is now enrolled in a PhD programme at Jozef Stefan International Postgraduate School in Ljubljana. He works at Trikoder d.o.o as a senior data-scientist on various machine learning tasks with a focus on natural language processing (NLP) applications in news analysis. He worked on the research and development of NLP models for personalised news article recommendations, and keyword detection and analysis for a major regional publisher. The project was realised as a partnership between the Google Digital News Initiative and publishers to support journalism through technology and innovation. Since 2019, he has been involved in the EMBEDDIA, a Horizon 2020 research project that seeks to address the European multilinguality challenges by leveraging innovations in the use of cross-lingual embeddings coupled with deep neural networks, where he serves as a member of a steering committee.
