Sanda Martinčić-Ipšić obtained her BSc degree in Computer Science in 1994 from the University of Ljubljana Faculty of Computer Science and Informatics, and her MSc degree in informatics from the University of Ljubljana, Faculty of Economy in 1999. In 2007, she obtained a PhD degree in Computer Science from the University of Zagreb, Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computing. Prof. Martinčić-Ipšić currently works as a full professor of Computer Science at the University of Rijeka, Department of Informatics.

She is a leader of the LangNet project. She is thehead of Laboratory for Natural Speech and Language processing at the Center for Artificial Intelligence and Cybersecurity and she holds the Intelligent Systems Chair. She teaches subjects in undergraduate, graduate and postgraduate study of informatics. Her research interests include speech and language technologies, natural language processing and complex networks. She has published more than 70 scientific papers and books.

Her expertise in the project stems from her background in NLP and complex network analysis, where she has researched networks of language, a mechanism for predicting the content of tweets, text representation for text mining and classification, methods for keyword extraction, etc.
