Slobodan Beliga gained his PhD in Information Sciences in the field of Text Mining and Natural Language Processing from the University of Rijeka in 2019. His doctoral research is related to the keyword extraction from textual sources, which is based on the properties and structure of complex language networks. Slobodan currently works as a postdoctoral researcher at the University of Rijeka, Department of Informatics. Furthermore, his research interests are Artificial Intelligence, Natural Language Processing (NLP), Information Retrieval (IR), and Complex Networks Analysis (CAN). He has numerous skills required for research work, he has trained as a part of lifelong learning and professional specialisation from the fields of his interests in training schools at Pedagogische Hochschule Oberösterreich in Austria, the University of Malta in Malta, the University of Deusto in Spain, and Vita-Salute San Raffaele University in Milan. Besides this, as part of his doctoral studies and specialisation from NLP, he achieved Erasmus mobility at Faculty of Information Studies in Novo Mesto, Slovenia. He also participated as an associate of two University of Rijeka’s scientific projects, two European COST actions and the H2020 project. He has published 10 scientific papers in international journals and conferences in the fields of NLP and CNA. High competences in education can be seen in Slobodan’s earliest levels of education. On the bachelor and master level, he received the Rector’s Award as the best student, and a scholarship for excellence at the University of Rijeka and Croatian Ministry of Science and Education scholarship.
